I’m the mom to Karen “Lexi” Richards Uslu who the scholarship is named for. I lost Lexi in August of 2024 due to complications from Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and now carry a permanent hole in my heart that I know will never be filled. That being said, Lexi was very specific with her marching orders for me (as for everyone else she gave marching orders to). I was told to not wallow in self-pity, I was to carry on her legacy of advocating for and fighting for patients with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and, I was to always remember that “Life was to be Lived.” She had so wanted to jump out of a plane with a dear family friend she helped care for with Alzheimer Disease but couldn’t because of the stability of her joints and her vascular issues…. Well, I have EDS and my joints are a bit stronger so I’m jumping for her and taking some of her ashes with me so she finally gets that jump. Would love your support in this. All proceeds will go to fund a scholarship that TCAPP is creating in memory of my daughter that will continue to benefit those that live, laugh, fight and love despite the medical cards they are dealt.
I’m Aurelia! I’m 21 and I’m currently going to school for psychology. I grew up in coastal North Carolina and I visit the Appalachians often. I love traveling and hanging out with my dogs. I want to skydive because I told myself at the beginning of the year that I would do more things that scared me and there’s nothing scarier than free falling through the sky!
Blythe is a neuroscience major at The College of William & Mary. She’s jumping in support of Karen’s life and legacy, and also to cross off an item from her bucket list.
I’m a veterinarian, father to two lovely girls and married to my beautiful wife Kelly. I’ve lived in the South Shore of MA for about two years since graduating veterinary school at Michigan State. Originally from coastal North Carolina, we decided to move to this area to be closer to family. Since a kid, I have always been fascinated with extreme sports. I use to have this reoccurring dream of falling through the sky. I would wake up with an extreme feeling of both pleasure and fright. I’ve never had the opportunity to jump from a plane and fall through the sky ‘only in my dreams’. When asked if I would be interested in the opportunity, I felt frightful, but it brings me pleasure in knowing why I’m doing it. Not because of a dream, but to raise awareness of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, and those who suffer from it! That is the push I’m going to need to get me out of that airplane. Thank you for the support!
My name is Trevor. I am a vet tech at Norfolk County Veterinary Service. I have two dogs and love going hiking and on various adventures with them in my free time. I am participating in this skydiving event because I went once before with my brother and it was exhilarating. I couldn’t wait to go again, and when Aurora told me about this event and the cause it’s for, I simply couldn’t resist and had to JUMP at the opportunity!
